As of March 2022, Rob began a new position at Washington State University.

Rob Smith is a data scientist and analyst with Washington State University’s Office of Institutional Research. His work lies at the broad intersection of higher education and high-dimensional statistics. Trained as a quantitative ecologist, he previously was a research fellow with US Forest Service’s Air Resource Management and the Forest Inventory and Analysis programs. He has taught in the Dept of Botany and Plant Pathology at Oregon State University after earning his PhD there with a focus on detection and prediction of climate signals. For a decade he worked in construction, mills, landscaping, and mountaineering.
